Steve Sherer

A member of the Dover Lions Club since 1980, Past International Director Sherer has held many offices within the association, including club president, zone chairperson, cabinet secretary/treasurer, district governor and council chairperson. He also served as a member of the state Finance and Long-Range Planning Committee, Youth Committee, and International Convention Committee. He was elected to serve a two-year term on the International Board in Boston in 2006.

He served several years as an area coordinator for the GMT and under his leadership Ohio chartered 18 new clubs and showed a plus in membership.

In recognition of his service to the association he has received numerous awards, including the 100% Club President Award, 100% District Governor Award, the Council Chairperson’s Award of Excellence, numerous International President’s Certificates, two International Leadership Medals, twelve International President’s Medals and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor bestowed upon a member by the association.

Steve began his service on the USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum Committee as a member of the host committee in Columbus in 2006 and then as a Board Appointee in 2007. He has served as treasurer for the Milwaukee, Spokane, and Louisville Virtual Forums. He has served a total of 11 years on the Forum committee including serving as Protocol Chair, Facilities Chair, and Vice Chair in Reno. He is honored to have the opportunity to be the General Chair for the 2024 Louisville Forum and is looking forward to helping Lions “Set the Pace” on leadership.

Steve also has 41 years perfect attendance and is a James T. Coffey Fellow, W. R. “Dick” Bryan Fellow, and a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
